Martin Milanič awarded Zois Certificate of Recognition

Assoc. Prof. Martin Milanič, University of Primorska, has been awarded the prestigious Zois Certificate of Recognition, the Republic of Slovenia's top scientific prize, for his work in the field of discrete mathematics. 

Zois Awards and Recognitions are the most prestigious awards for exceptional achievements in scientific research and development activities, awarded to researchers in the Republic of Slovenia.

Martin Milanič earned his doctorate degree at RutgersThe State University of New Jersey (USA). Between July 2007 and February 2009 he was a postdoctoral fellow at the Faculty of Technology at Bielefeld University, and after that he was employed at the University of Primorska – on the Faculty of Mathematics, Natural Sciences and Information Technologies and on Andrej Marušič Institute.

Assoc. Prof. Milanič, PhD deals with discrete mathematics, especially with algorithmic graph theory and theoretical computer science. His bibliography covers more than 70 original scientific articles and a chapter in a scientific monograph, with more than 290 pure citations over the past ten years.

His award ceremony was attended by EMS President Pavel Exner.

Martin Milanič is also one of the organisers of the 8th European Congress of Mathematics in 2020, which will take place in Portoroz in Slovenia.
